Introduction Ophthalmology Department is the department responsible for patients with eye ailments. At Putrajaya Hospital, the Ophthalmology Department consist of: a) Ophthalmology Clinic b) Eye Operation Theatre c) General ward & Day Care ward (Mixed with other surgical disciplines)
Facilities and Services a) Ophthalmologist b) Medical Officers c) Visiting Optometrists d) Trained Staff Nurses to manage the services
Specialist Clinic a) 3 Consultation Rooms b) 1 Optometry Room c) 1 Eye Procedure Room d) 1 Laser Room (equipped with Argon, Yag laser machine and fundus photo) e) 1 Visual Field Room
Operation Theatre a) One theatre is dedicated to the Ophthalmology department. b) The theatre is equipped with 1 microscope, 1 phaco machine and 1 vitrectomy machine.
Wards a) 1 Male Ward (ward 3A) b) 1 Female Ward (ward 3B) c) 1 Pediatric Ward (ward 2C) d) 1 Day Care Ward
Services a) Specialist outpatient services, inclusive of : (i) Minor surgery which is performed in the eye procedure room. (ii) Laser treatment for diabetic retinopathy cases and cases which require laser therapy. (iii) Optometry services such as refraction, contact lens services, visual field assessment, basic orthoptic assessment and diabetic retinopathy screening. b) Inpatient services - patients who require inpatient treatment will be admitted to 3A & 3B ward for adult and 3c ward for paediatric. c) Surgical treatment - emergency and elective, including daycare cases and inpatient cases. d) Emergency services - A Medical Officer and Specialist will be made available (on call basis) everyday to provide 24 hours coverage.
